Syrian President Bashar al-Assad has thanked Russia for its support for the country, which had been facing the threat of foreign intervention.
At his meeting with Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov, Bashar al-Assad said that Russia's position can lead to a new balance of power in the world, RIA Novosti cites the SANA news agency as saying.
The Syrian president also said that his country is ready to provide the international community with all the information concerning its chemical arsenal.
