Caucasus expert Andrey Yepifantsev said that there was no solution for the conflict of Georgia, Abkhazia and South Ossetia. Georgia emphasizes that it will never quit claims for the breakaway republics. The expert believes that it is a fair position, but it is wrong in a long-term view.
Yepifantsev reminded that there was an idea of supranational union of Russia, Georgia, Abkhazia and South Ossetia. The idea is older than the war of 2008. Russia put journalists from Abkhazia and South Ossetia on the list of the journalist pool of the Olympic Games as representatives of independent states. It caused outrage in Georgia. Thus, Yepifantsev sees no solution to the problem at the moment.
