Iran's Foreign Minister Mohammad-javad Zarif has met with European Union Foreign Policy Chief Catherine Ashton in New York.
The meeting was held on the sidelines of Zarif's trip to New York to take part in the United Nations General Assembly, Trend reports with reference to the ISNA News Agency.
The international event will kick off on Tuesday September 24.
The EU foreign policy chief has said that her meeting with Zarif focused on Iran's nuclear energy program.
She also announced that Iran's foreign minister will meet his counterparts from the six countries present from the five permanent members of the UN Security Council and Germany later this week.
The group includes the United States, Russia, Britain, France, China and Germany. Zarif's meeting with his European and US counterparts is expected to take place in New York on Thursday.
Zarif will also meet with the foreign ministers of the P5+1 countries on Wednesday.
