Demonstration for restoration of relations with Russia to start in Tbilisi

The Eurasian Choice Georgia NGO will organize a demonstration at the Kashvet Church on the Rustaveli Avenue in Tbilisi today, as stated by Archil Chkoidze, chairman of the Heraclius II Society, Trend reports.

Participants of the demonstration will march towards the Foreign Ministry as an urge for restoration of diplomatic relations with Russia. Chkoidze pointed out that Japan had territorial disputes over the Kuril Islands with Russia, but it was not a reason for breaking diplomatic relations with Russia.

The activist noted that restoration of diplomatic relations with Russia would simplify the visa regime and improve security. It will also help resolve the conflicts around Abkhazia and South Ossetia, he assures.

The demonstrators will demand a new referendum on the foreign policy of Georgia and integration in the EU and NATO.
