UK waiting concrete action from Iran to improve ties

British Foreign Secretary William Hague says the United Kingdom and Iran have started bilateral talks in order to improve mutual ties.

According to Hague, his meeting with Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif was a first sign that the two nations are ready for successful dialogue. The foreign secretary notes however that Iran's statements should be followed by concrete actions.

"If the statements by President Rouhani and Foreign Minister Zarif are meaningful, if they actually mean what they are saying, then there is a good chance to improve the ties and start successful cooperation," Hague said, adding "But as I have already said it's important that these statements are followed by concrete steps."
