Iranian president recognizes Holocaust

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani has recognized the Holocaust as a crime of Nazis against the Jewish people, a position contrary to the views of his predecessor Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, RIA Novosti reports.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ordered his delegation at the UN General Assembly to boycott Rouhani’s speech. He added that the Israeli delegation will only attend speeches of Iranian leaders if they recognize the Holocaust. Netanyahu called Rouhani’s statement about the peaceful nature of the Iranian nuclear program cynical and two-faced, accusing Iran of trying to win some extra time.
