Georgian soldiers to meet NATO standards in 2017

Georgian Defense Minister Irakly Alasania and his deputy Tamar Karosanidze met the military attaché of the Swedish Embassy in Georgia. Swedish Ambassador Dina Janes attended the talks, Trend reports.

Alasania and Karosanidze described the military reforms and said that Georgian soldiers will meet NATO standards by 2017.

Col. Vladimir Chachibaya, Deputy Chief of Georgian Joint Staff, noted that Georgia had one of the best military education systems. He expressed interest in cooperating with the Swiss Defense Ministry. They also discussed the role of Georgia after conclusion of the ISAF mission in Afghanistan.
