Russian deputy chief of General Staff resigns

Russian Deputy Defense Minister Army General Nikolai Pankov said that Defense Minister Sergey Shoygu accepted the request of Vasily Smirnov for dismissal as the Deputy Chief of General Staff, RIA Novosti reports.

Smirnov has not left the office yet and continues work. Five candidates have been selected to replace Smirnov.
