Mahmoud Mamedguliyev, Azerbaijani Deputy Foreign Minister, Gunnar Vigandinon, director of the EU foreign service for Russia, Eastern Partnership, Central Asia, OSCE and regional cooperation, attended the 14th session of the Azerbaijani-EU cooperation committee in Baku yesterday, Trend reports.
They discussed cooperation within the framework of the European Neighbourhood Policy and the Eastern Partnership. The officials expressed satisfaction with the signing of agreements on a simplification of the mutual visa regime and readmission set for the Vilnius summit.
The committee emphasized the role of Azerbaijan in energy security and diversification of energy carriers in Europe and discussed realization of the Southern Gas Corridor project.
The sides discussed the upcoming presidential polls in Azerbaijan, democracy, respect of human rights, freedom of press and the Nagorno-Karabakh peace process.
