Russian Embassy in Libya attacked in revenge for Syria stance– expert

Vladimir Yevseyev, Director of the Center for Socio-Political Studies, believes that the attack on the Russian Embassy in Tripoli (Libya) was an act of vengeance for Moscow’s support for Syria. Qatar has great influence on Libya and continues financing of its radical groups, says the expert.

He also assumes that more acts may followed the incident and Russia should take measures to protect members of diplomatic missions and their families, reminding about murder of Russian diplomats in Iraq.

The expert points out that, judging by speeches of Qatar and Saudi Arabia at the UN General Assembly, their approach to Syria remained the same.

Yevseyev adds that the US is opposed to Russian foreign policy in Syria.

The expert says that Moscow does not take sides in any of the conflicts in the Middle East and avoids interference in any interior affairs of other states. He pointed out that the US’ foreign policy had resulted in death of Muammar Gaddafi.

Yevseyev believes that the attack on the embassy may show activation of its influence in the region and interference in plans of extremist groups.
