Georgia and UN discuss refugees

David Darakhvelidze, Georgian Minister of Internally Displaced Persons from the Occupied Territories, Accommodation and Refugees, met Antonio Guterres, UN High Commissioner for Refugees, to discuss problems of refugees and ways to solve them, Trend reports.

The Georgian minister noted that the republic met international law standards to help refugees, was cooperating with international organizations. He said that the country needed donations to solve all the problems efficiently.

Darakhvelidze emphasized that all steps towards settlement of the military conflict will be peaceful.

The talks were attended by Nino Chavchavadze, Deputy Minister of Internally Displaced Persons from the Occupied Territories, Accommodation and Refugees, Simon Volken, Guterres’ representative, Shalva Tsiskarishvili, Georgian representative to the UN, Medeya Gugeshashvili, deputy head of the department for international relations of the ministry.
