The Chinese company won the tender for FD-2000 missiles in September 2013. Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Commander of the General Staff Necet Ozel, Defense Minister Ismet Yilmaz and his deputy Murat Bayar chaired the session of the Executive Committee of Defense Industry that decided to choose CPMIEC for the contract.
The US expressed concerns about Turkey’s cooperation with China.
