Ivan Molotkov, Russian Ambassador to Libya, has described the attack on Tripoli last week in the Voskresny Vecher s Vladimirov Solovyovim on Russia-1.
Molotkov said that the staff of the embassy had left as soon as Libyan authorities admitted inability to secure the diplomatic mission. He said that few Russian citizens were left in Libya.
The ambassador noted that the attack had been absolutely unexpected. The staff barricaded the doors at the service building. No attempts were made to talk with the crowd of armed people storming the building. The diplomats tried to use flash bang grenades.
Molotkov added that the decisive role was played by the Libyan Defense Ministry the diplomats managed to contact on time.
