Government representative taken hostage in Kyrgyzstan

Participants in a rally held in the administrative center of the Issyk-Kul region of Kyrgyzstan have taken hostage the authorized representative of the government in this region, Yemilbek Kaptagaev, ITAR-TASS reports referring to the staff of the regional administration.

According to the Kyrgyz media, the official has stated he feels ill, but the protesters are refusing to let him go.

Participants in the rally demand the government's resignation and the resignation of Kaptagaev. In addition, the protestors demand a review of the agreement with the Canadian company Centerra Gold, which is developing resources of gold located in Issyk -Kul. The Interior Ministry of the country has already sent buses with special forces to the town.
