According to the results of exit polls, incumbent President Ilham Aliyev has won the presidential election in Azerbaijan, receiving over 80 precent of the votes.
The vote ended at 7 pm local time.
9 candidates are running for president along with Ilham Aliyev. They are Igbal Agazade, the head of the Umid Party; Zakhid Orudzh, an independent candidate and member of parliament; Gudrat Gasanguliyev, the head of the Azerbaijan Popular Front; Khafiz Gajiyev, the head of the Modern Musavat; Araz Alizade, the head of the Social and Democratic Party; Faradzh Guliyev, the head of the National Revival Movement; Jamil Gasanly, a candidate of the National Council of Democratic Forces; Ilyas Ismaylov, the head of the Adalet Party; and Sardar Jalaloglu, the head of the Democratic Party.
