Russian President Vladimir Putin has congratulated Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev on winning the presidential polls, RIA Novosti reports.
Putin said that the clear victory of Aliyev proved his political authority and active social support of his efforts to boost socio-political development and improve image of Azerbaijan as an international player.
The Russian leader expressed hope for further work to strengthen strategic partnership with Azerbaijan, expand bilateral ties in all fields and enforce sustainable and secure Trans-Caucasus.
According to 99.53% of ballot papers process, Ilham Aliyev got 84.59% of the vote.
