Leonid Slutsky, head of the Russian parliamentary monitoring group at the Azerbaijani presidential polls and head of the Committee for the CIS, Eurasian Integration and Compatriots, emphasized that flaws pointed out during the Azerbaijani presidential elections of 2008 and parliamentary polls of 2010 had been eliminated. He pointed out such technical advances as transparent ballot boxes, new schemes of organizations of polling stations.
Slutsky expressed surprise that there were no incidents during the presidential polls. He noted that refugees from Nagorno-Karabakh voted. Overall, Azerbaijan was uniquely prepared for the elections, the MP asserts.
The official said that monitoring the elections on October 9, 2013, was joyful.
Commenting on Russian-Azerbaijani relations, Slutsky noted that they will develop in a constructive fashion. The two states cooperate in the field of energy, Gabala Radar. He expressed hope that Russia and Azerbaijan will collaborate actively in the 21st century.
