Ramzan Kadyrov and Chechen clergy discuss fight against extremism

Questions of the spiritual and moral education of young people and countering extremist trends were discussed today by the head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, at a meeting with clergy and theologians of the region.

"I am once again reminded of the role of religious leaders in the spiritual and moral education of young people against any manifestations of extremism and Wahhabism. It is also stressed that under no circumstances should the blessing of the imam be given to marry girls who have not finished school or have not reached marriageable age," ITAR- TASS news agency quoted Kadyrov.

In Chechnya, the head of the republic said, we were able to completely eradicate the practice of "bride kidnapping" and in recent years there have been no such cases.

According to Kadyrov, the clergy and the media play a major role in information- ideological counter-terrorism. Kadyrov repeatedly compared their work with the work of the law enforcement and security agencies. The country actively carried out the so-called " fifth national project" - "the spiritual and moral education of young people."
