Today, the head of North Caucasian Department of the Internal Affairs Ministry, Sergey Chenchik, introduced the new Dagestani Internal Affairs Minister, Abdulrashid Mahometov, to the staff of the department.
Mr Chenchik mentioned that the main task of the new Minister is the 'decriminalisation' of the Republic and during his previous service Mr Mahometov showed himself capable of taking firm and efficient actions.
Mr Mahometov declared that some important changes are due to be introduced to the Republic's police office work and the struggle against terrorism is to assume the offensive. According to the new Minister, present state of affairs is not satisfactory: 300 people became victims of terrorist attacks in the region this year and the number of terrorist crimes solved compared to the last year indicator decreased by one third.
