The Federation Council of Russia has approved the law on responsibility of regional and municipal authorities for interethnic relations, RIA Novosti reports.
The document was introduced in February 2013. The bill guarantees equality of rights, liberties and legal interests. Regional authorities will be authorized to preserve and develop ethno-cultural diversity of peoples in Russia, their languages and cultures, protect rights of minorities, stimulate social and cultural adaption of migrants, prevent conflicts.
Municipal authorities and local administrations may be dismissed for failures to prevent mass violations of peoples rights.
