In future Azerbaijan will not only experience economic growth, but also become a valuable partner for Western powers, member of the Berlin Cenre for Research of the Caspian Region, Professor Matthias Dornfeldt believes.
"In June it was decided that TANAP will continue the Trans-Adriatic pipeline project rather than Nabucco. This means that the South Gas Corridor will go via Greece, Albania and Italy. Azerbaijan has already invested a lot in Greece. I believe Azerbaijan will also establish new jobs in Albania, where the unemployment rate is very high. This country needs investment. The same can be said about Southern Italy, which differs greatly from the northern part of the country," he said.
"This means that the country will become an influential foreign investor. At the same time, it is developing itself. The quality of life is improving. The Azerbaijani economy is developing as well. The oil industry is not the only sector, other fields are also developing," the expert says.
