Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili has recommended the pardoning of over 150 convicts. The presidential amnesty commission has studies about 500 criminal case, including recommendations to release 128 convicts and cut imprisonment for 33 others.
Yelena Tevdoradze, chairwoman of the commission, said that recommendations were given to release 3 teenagers and 8 women and half the sentence for 4 women. She added that the commission did not study cases of former prison staff accused of torture.
