UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon said in his report to the UN Security Council that the conflict in Syria should not serve as an excuse for a reluctance to disarm Hezbollah. Lebanon does not fulfill obligations set in resolution 1559 passed in 2004 and the group remains a threat to peace and security in the region, according to Ki-moon, ITAR-TASS reports.
The secretary general expressed concerns that Hezbollah was not under control of the Lebanese government. He noted that Hezbollah was becoming more active in Syria.
