Presidential elections started this morning in the former Soviet republic of Georgia. Some 3,537,719 Georgians are expected to take part in the vote. 3741 polling stations have been organized in the country and in Georgian diplomatic missions worldwide.
23 candidates are running for president. The front runners are Georgy Margelashvili from the ruling Georgian Dream coalition, former Parliamentary Spreaker Nino Burdzhanadze and David Bakradze from the United National Movement party founded by incumbent President Mikheil Saakashvili.
