Turkey to continue reforms to join EU

Turkish Minister for the European Union, Egemen Bagis, said today that there were political obstacles on the path of Turkey to the EU. Dragging of the process resulted in loss of trust in the EU among citizens. He added that the reforms will continue.

Turkish Vice Prime Minister Bulent Arinc said that the number of Turks interested in joining the EU had dropped from 75% of the population to 20%.

Bagis said that Turkey could become a member of the EU in the near future, should all political obstacles be removed.
