Lakhdar Brahimi, a special envoy of the UN and the Arab League, will arrive in Damascus from Beirut. Syrian President Bashar al-Assad warned him against exceeding his authority.
Brahimi met Iranian President Hassan Rouhani yesterday. The president pointed out the importance of humanitarian aid in Syria and prevention of terrorism. He noted that the utilization of all chemical weapons would help achieve stability and peace in Syria. Rouhani proposed a council hosted by Tehran to discuss formation of a common platform for a settlement of the Syrian crisis.
