The president of Iran, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, has ordered to continue working on uranium enrichment to provide the Tehran scientific and research reactor with fuel, reports RIA Novosti.
On July 18th, the Iranian Parliament passed a bill supporting the Iranian nuclear program. 181 out of 190 parliamentarians voted for the bill, which caused great apprehension in Western countries.
According to this document, Iran must become independent in the field of peaceful nuclear technology. The bill gives the Iranian government the right to take counter-measures against countries trying to inspect Iranian ships or refusing to provide Iranian aircraft with fuel.
Iran must support the development of the atomic sector, despite the opposition of Western countries.
The government must also cooperate with the International Agency for Atomic Energy only within the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty.
On June 9th, the United Nations Security Council passed a resolution toughening sanctions against Iran. This was the fourth UNSC resolution on Iran.
