Dagestani President Ramzan Abdulatipov called the burning of the republic's flag by a 19-year-old Krasnodar resident at the Anzhi vs. Kuban football match on Monday a shameful act and a trigger for interethnic conflicts, Yuga.ru reports.
He noted that the ethnic clash in Biryulyovo and the blast in Volgograd overshadowed marking of the 200th anniversary of Dagestan’s merging with Russia. Abdulatipov added that nationalist politicians such as Zhirinovsky were contributing to existing tensions.
Abdulatipov said that Nazis were far from cultural and historic missions of the Russian people.He added that the problem had been discussed with the head of the Russian Presidential Administration and Governor of the Krasnodar Territory Alexander Tkachyov.
