Ahmet Uzumcu, head of the OPCW, said that all equipment used for production of chemical weapons in Syria had been destroyed at 23 facilities.
Syria has officially declared 1,300 tons of chemicals used for production of chemical weapons and over 1,200 shells and 41 structures at 23 facilities used for the process. Experts have carried out inspections at 21 out of 23 facilities, two of them missed due to security problems.
According to the decision of the OPCW passed on September 27, today is the deadline for destruction of all machinery used to produce Syrian chemical weapons.
