Turkish President Abdullah Gul said that Ankara was opposed to militarization of the region, Trend reports.
The president believes that militarization would trigger economic recession. Gul noted that some states were in an arms race that could provoke repercussions for the region.
Turkey wants the Middle East to be a region free of weapons of mass destruction, he said.
