Saudi Arabia rejected its seat on the UN Security Council because the international community had failed to stop war in Syria, the head of the Foreign Ministry of Saudi Arabia said on Monday at a press conference with John Kerry, the US secretary of state.Kerry, in turn, recognized the currently-existing tactical differences in the approaches to the settlement of the Syrian crisis between Washington and Saudi Arabia and stressed that they are not of a fundamental nature and that "both sides have been and remain strategic partners."As reported earlier by Vestnik Kavkaza, Saudi Arabia refused non-permanent membership of the UN Security Council because of a policy of "double standards" and the ineffectiveness of the Security Council in addressing key international issues.
