Inauguration of Georgia’s president to be held in parliament

The inauguration of Georgian President Georgy Margvelashvili will be held at the inner yard of the parliament, at the Square of Heroes. The ceremony will be followed by a concert at the Rustaveli Theater and an official meeting, said Georgian Foreign Minister Maya Panjikidze, Trend reports.

The minister noted that the president was elected on October 27 and his inauguration should meet European standards.

Invitations for the ceremony were sent to 70 countries. Russia was not invited because it has no diplomatic relations with Georgia. Georgian ex-Presidents Eduard Shevardnadze and Mikheil Saakashvili and all members of the parliament were invited.

The inauguration is planned for 1.00-6.00 pm on November 17.
