Russia, Kazakhstan sign alliance

Russian and Kazakh Presidents Vladimir Putin and Nursultan Nazarbayev signed a good-neighbour and alliance treaty yesterday.

Putin noted that bilateral trade turnover had increased by 15% to $18 billion in the first 9 months of 2013.

The sides also signed a cooperation agreement on association of Kazakh and Russian industrial colleges ROST-ORLEU, a preliminary agreement on oil transportation through Kazakhstan and guarantees, a memorandum of the Kazakh Ministry for Industry and Technologies and the Russian Ministry for Industry and Trade to expand industrial cooperation, a road map for activation of Kazakh and Russian industrial cooperation in 2013-2014, a protocol to the agreement between the Kazakh and Russian governments on cooperation in developing the Imashevskoye Gas Field, an agreement between the Kazakh and Russian governments to prevent and put out fires in forests and plains on border territories.
