Georgian CEC announces results of presidential polls

The Georgian Central Electoral Commission has announced the results of the October 27 presidential polls, News Georgia reports.

Georgy Margvelashvili of the Georgian Dream coalition got 62.12% of the votes (1,012,569), David Bakradze of the United National Movement 21.72% (354,103), Nino Burjanadze of the Democratic Movement – United Georgia 10.19% (166,061), Shalva Natelashvili of the Labor Party 2.88% (46,984), Georgy Targamadze of the Christian Democratic Movement 1.06% (17,354). Other candidates got less than 1% of the votes cast.

President Mikheil Saakashvili’s term of office expires on November 17, the inauguration day of Margvelashvili.
