The distinctive feature of Azerbaijani foreign policy is the fact that it's well-based. The country has good relations with Russia and at the same time successfully cooperates with the European Union and other countries, including Turkey.
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has recently visited Turkey and met with Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
According to Azerbaijani lawmaker and political analyst Rasim Musabekov, the visit of the Azerbaijani president held soon after he was re-elected for a third term shows that successful relations with Turkey is Azerbaijan's major priority.
"This approach affects all spheres - the economy, investments, large-scale projects, foreign policy and the defence industry," he says.
The Azerbaijani-Turkish partnership is the closest in the whole region, the expert believes. Any attempts at sabotaging this cooperation will fail, he underlines.
