Syrian opposition expects its leader to meet with Sergei Lavrov

The National Coalition for Syrian Revolutionary and Opposition Forces hopes to hold a meeting before the end of the month between its leader Ahmed Jarba and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, Secretary General of the Coalition Badr Jamus said.

 

"The invitation to visit Russia was sent to the President of the National Coalition, and we informed the Russian authorities that the terms (November 18-21) do not suit us. Now we are trying to agree on the terms that would be acceptable for both Sergei Lavrov and Ahmed Jarba. Today, the Russian Consul was in our office in Istanbul, and we have discussed this topic.We hope that it will turn out until the end of this month that we will come to Moscow”, RIA Novosti quotes him .

 

Jamus said that the coalition does not oppose relations with Moscow and "even welcomes any meeting with the representatives of Russia, especially if they are positive in nature, including to clarify the prospects of dialogue".
