Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will visit Moscow today to have a closed-door meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin. Yevgeny Satanovsky, President of the Institute of the Middle East, predicts that the Iranian nuclear program will be the main topic of their discussions. He noted that the Iran’s deal with the six mediators in Geneva would be disadvantageous for Israel.
If Israel considers a military operation, Russia should be aware of that because it is the only member of the six mediators with a common border with Iran. The expert sees another option: Russia could be a mediator as with Syria and could unblock Iranian-Israeli relations with a non-aggression act.
Dmitry Maryasis, Executive Director of the Russian-Israeli business council at the Russian TIC, failed to rate the upcoming talks on the scale of declarations. He believes that Israel will try to get its position in the situation with Iran across to Russia again. Maryasis expects that the problems will be discussed at the mixed commission for trade-economic cooperation in early December.
