Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said at the opening of the 34th session of the special working group composing the Caspian Convention that work was going well and it was time to clarify the fields of cooperation listed in existing agreements and documents under preparations, RIA Novosti reports.
Lavrov said that over two years had passed since the previous meeting in Moscow in July 2011. He expressed joy that the time was used for intensive talks. According to him, work on new protocols of the Tehran convention for environment of the Caspian Sea and cooperation agreements for hydrometeorology, protection of biological resources and prevention of emergency situations was coming to a conclusion.
The Russian minister said that the cooperation agreement for Caspian security signed in 2010 was on the final stage of ratification. The document allows states to cooperate with greater efficiency and find solutions to challenges and threats.
