Nowruz Mamedov, Deputy Head of the Azerbaijani Presidential Administration, said that the republic was not planning to sign an association agreement with the EU and proposed a partnership agreement instead, Interfax reports.
He explained that such a document would reflect bilateral cooperation, mutual respect and equality of both sides. Mamedov noted that the decision of Azerbaijan was not a result of pressure from Russia.
