"Ban Ki-moon announces that on January 22 he will convene a conference on Syria in Geneva", Nasirki's message is quoted by RIA Novosti.
Today in Geneva Russian and U.S.diplomats held talks with the special envoy of the UN and the Arab League on Syria on preparing a peace conference on the Syrian settlement. This is the fourth meeting between Russia, the U.S. and the UN in a year. The Russian side was represented by the president's special representative on the Middle East, Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov, and Deputy Foreign Minister Gennady Gatilov; the American side was presented by Under-Secretary of State for Political Affairs Wendy Sherman, and the UN by the special envoy for Syria, Lakhdar Brahimi .
