The UN General Assembly passed five resolutions in support of Palestine and critical of Israel’s settlement policy and occupation yesterday, ITAR-TASS reports.
The resolution, entitled Peaceful Settlement of the Question of Palestine, demands Israel stop building settlements on the occupied territories of Palestine, including East Jerusalem and Golan Heights (Syria).Another resolution demands Israel to stop all illegal and unilateral actions to impose its laws and administration in Jerusalem.
Other three documents concern procedures and initiatives to support the Middle East peace process. One of them proclaims 2014 the Year of International Solidarity with the Palestinian People.
A special, sixth, resolution was passed by the General Assembly with demands for Israel to stop occupation of Golan Heights. The documents received the majority of votes. The US, Israel and Canada are among the 7 countries that disapproved of the resolutions.
