Canada supports the territorial integrity of Georgia and its efforts to join NATO, Richard Fadden, Deputy Minister of National Defense for Canada, said at a meeting with Georgian Deputy Defense Minister Mikhail Darchiashvili in Ottawa , Trend reports.
The sides discussed the political situation in Georgia, priorities of its foreign policy, aspects of bilateral cooperation in the defense field, efforts to join the NATO, situation on the occupied territories, as well as Georgian-Russian relations.
Darchiashvili also met NATO Deputy Secretary General Alexander Vershbow. They discussed prospects of Georgia’s joining NATO and the situation in the country.
The Georgian deputy minister attended the Halifax International Security Forum.
