A criminal case against Russian ex-Minister for Defense Anatoly Serdyukov has been initiated for negligence, said spokesman of the Russian Investigative Committee Vladimir Markin, Interfax reports.
Investigators say that Serdyukov gave a verbal order to build a road from Krasa (Ikryaninsky District, Astrakhan Region) to the Shkolny Island, where the Zhitnoye non-commercial partnership is located, at the expense of the budget. He also ordered beautification of the territory around the organization with the help of aviation conscripts. The road was built by soldiers of the railway forces.
Visitors of Zhitnoye were the only ones allowed to use the road. No documents on budget expenses for the project have been made.
