Presidents Vladimir Putin (Russia), Barack Obama (US), Bashar al-Assad (Syria) and Hassan Rouhani (Iran), US ex-intelligence agent Edward Snowden are among 42 candidates to be the Time Person of the Year, RIA Novosti reports.
US actress Miley Cyrus is among the favourites of the candidates. Snowden is the fourth, Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan is the fifth, Assad is the seventh, Putin is the eighth. The Tsarnayev brothers suspected of the Boston Marathon blast this year are among the candidates.
Voting for the Person of the Year will continue on the Time website until December 4. Results will be published on December 6. The Person of the Year will be named on December 11.
Barack Obama was the Man of the Year in 2012.
