Ukrainian president demands EU aid

Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has announced the conditions under which his country will sign an associate membership agreement with the European Union. The announcement was made today in Vilnius at the summit of the Eastern Partnership. 

 

According to President Yanukovych, his country wants the EU to persuade the International Monetary Fund to allocate a loan to the country in order to modernize Ukraine's hydro-electric plants and to lift all restrictions on Ukrainian exports.
