Ukrainian opposition demands early presidential and parliamentary elections

Following President Viktor Yanukovych's refusal to sign the associate membership agreement with the EU during the Vilnius summit of the Eastern Partnership, Ukraine's opposition demands early presidential and parliamentary elections.

World-famous boxer and one of the opposition leaders Vitaly Klichko says his party will obstruct the operation of parliament.

The remarks were made today after Ukrainian police broke up a pro-EU rally on Kyiv's Independence Square. Some 35 protesters were detained, almost 40 were injured and hospitalized.

The violence against the protesters has already been condemned by the European Union and the United States.
