Russian president approves state support of farmers

Russian President Dmitry Medvedev has approved the proposal of the governor of Stavropol Territory, Valeriy Gayevski, to offer state support to farmers and said that he will give the corresponding order to the government, ITAR-TASS reports.

At the meeting, Gayevskiy said that there are 13,000 farmers in the region and 410,000 household plots, but they lack financing for upkeep.

Medvedev noted that this is a common issue and said that a support system needs to be developed. He said that he ordered the government and the banks to react to the issue.
