The Georgian Ministry for Reintegration will be reformed into the Ministry for Reconciliation and Civil Equality on January 1, 2014. According to the plan of Minister for Reintegration Paata Zakareishvili, it will meanеру reconciliation of Georgia, Abkhazia and South Ossetia and interior integration of Georgia to protect еру equality of rights of all its territories.
Georgy Nodia, a political analyst, told Vestnik Kavkaza that the process meant фт expansion of the ministry’s mandate. Its authority will be expanded by issues of ethnic minorities. The expert supposes that renaming the structure into the Ministry of Reconciliation would simplify dialogue with Abkhazia and South Ossetia.
Nodia reminded that realization of Zakareishvili’s idea had taken about a year, only to be blocked by ex-President Mikheil Saakashvili, possibly because the word ‘reintegration’ was removed.
