Aleko Elisashvili, Head of the State Commission for Amnesty, said that his staff had started studying bids of convicts for pardoning at New Year and Christmas, News Georgia reports.
The first discussions will start on Monday. Pardoning recommendations will be presented to the president by the New Year and then Christmas. About 600 convicts have filed applications for amnesty. The president is to decide whom to pardon. The State Commission for Amnesty, Main Prosecutor’s Office and Georgian Patriarchy present candidates for pardoning.
