Former head of Kabardino-Balkaria comments on his resignation

Former head of the Kabardino-Balkarian republic Arsen Kanokov has commented on his resignation.

"It was a well-considered decision," Kanokov told reporters. "I have been the head of the republic for more than 8 years and I'm certain that someone else should replace me in this office. Of course I will continue to serve Kabardino-Balkaria and Russia anyway," he said.

Kanokov's resignation was officially confirmed today, on December 6.
